As well as passing the hazard perception test, you will also need to pass the theory test's multiple choice questions part to be able to go for the practical exam. The test consists of 50 questions which have to be answered in 57 minutes and you need to score 43 out of 50 to pass. Therefore it is necessary to practice a mock theory test before you go for the real one.

As from 28 September 2009, there will be some case studies added to the actual theory test. They are about real life scenarios and you will have multiple choice answers to choose from. When taking the test, you have the option to flag any answers you are unsure about so that you can return to them at the end to make a final call before submitting the answer. As this is the first part of the theory test, you will have an option to take a break of upto 3 minutes before the test resumes for the hazard perception part. When you have finished the test, the test centre staff will print out your certificate if you have passed.

How to pass the driving theory test?

  • First of all the test is multiple choice, so this should make it easier
  • Allow yourself a minute to answer each question and if you’re not sure flag it up for later review
  • Look out for driving mock theory test questions; you can get them through some driving schools for free
  • The theory test doesn’t really make sense unless you have been driving for a while as a lot of the questions are about being on the road
  • Try not to overload your brain with too many practice questions as you will get confused
  • Make a list of the ones you are not so confident about and ask someone to test you when you feel ready for a quiz
  • Purchase an up-to-date DSA theory mock test DVD as it is the most reliable source
  • Look for online mock theory driving test to get free tests to practice on

Mock driving theory test is a good way to practice questions before you sit the actual exam. The more you practice, the better it is as you will be more familiar with the type of questions that can be asked during the test.
